The Direct Aid Program
The Direct Aid Program (DAP) is a flexible, small grants scheme for development activities managed by Heads of Australian Missions in approximately 45 countries. The emphasis of the program is on alleviating basic humanitarian hardships.

Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID)
AusAID is the Australian Government agency responsible for managing Australia's overseas aid program. The objective of the aid program is to advance Australia's national interest by assisting developing countries in alleviating poverty and achieving sustainable development.
The Australian Aid program is organised around four interlinked themes:
- accelerating economic growth
- fostering functioning and effective states
- investing in people
- promoting regional stability and cooperation
The Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) manages the program.
Australia's aid program to Tonga includes but not limited to assistance in the Fisheries, Customs, Solid Waste, Health and Community Development Sectors and Scholarships. Total overseas development assistance to Tonga is approximately AUD13 million per annum.
